Prophecy is one of the great gifts of the Holy Spirit. Various denominations interpret it differently. One side sees it as “forthtelling”—the anointed preaching of the Word of God. My charismatic brethren view it as more “foretelling”—uttering what they believe to be a special word from the Lord to their listeners. I see both sides as “prophetic” and necessary to the growth of the body.
