THE BOOK OF SONG OF SOLOMON
LESSON 67
INTRODUCTION
The Song of Solomon is a love story. My Norma and I read it on our honeymoon and many married couples have done the same. However, there is a greater lesson to be gained in meditating on this book than merely the beauty and passion of human love. This is the deeper story of the Savior's love for you and me. And whenever our spiritual eyes are opened to that awesome love He has for us, we will seek only one thing above all else-to love Jesus in response to His first loving us.
SONG OF SOLOMON
1:2-4 Example-The incomparable, indescribable love of our Messiah and
Savior for you and me.
2:1-4,7,8,10-17 Example-What our lovely Lord desires-a mutual love affair between
Him and me (you).
4:1,3,7,9,12,15,16 Example-God wants my heart, like a garden, to be
"enclosed"-reserved only for Him and filled with the living water of
the Holy Spirit.
COST OF DELAY
5:2,3,6 Example-The cost in delaying to obey the Holy Spirit.
6:1 Example-As we seek more of the Lord, we will find others wanting to
find Him too.
6:9 Example-In a world of billions of people, Christ loves you as if you
were the only person on earth.
7:10 Example-This is how we should reserve our "first love" for Jesus
alone.
7:11 Example-Our beloved Savior invites us to go with Him to all the
world in preaching and teaching the good news of His death and
resurrection.
8:5-7 Example of the only kind of love worthy of our God.
8:14 Example-The Church is to hasten the return of our beloved Savior
by obeying His command to evangelize world (see Mathew 24:14
and 2 Peter 3:12).
