It just happened to us-again. Not long ago at Christmas time, my Norma fell on the ice and broke her elbow. The pain was horrific as we headed to Urgent Care. Three men also waited in the emergency room. Two were talking about their fishing exploits, so I joined in: "A group of guys were fishing all night and caught nothing. Someone came and told them to throw their net on the other side of the boat. They did, and wow, they struck it rich." "Yes," one of the three answered, "and the net didn't break." He was a Christian, so we kept talking. One of the other two said, "I'm backslidden. Pray for me to get back in God's Word." That left one, and he didn't want to be left out. We grasped hands as we prayed and he asked Christ to forgive his sins and change His life. Norma saw it all and later said, "God allowed my broken elbow so we could be here to reach these lives. It's worth it!" The mission field is everywhere. And every human being either knows the Lord-or needs to meet Him. So please keep praying for us. their enemies. God has blessed man with incredible genius. We stand in awe as we watch men and women in a room full of computers and high-tech instruments guiding and landing spacecraft on distant planets. At that moment, we appear invincible. But then a mammoth tornado comes—or a terrifying hurricane—or rains that flood whole regions and never listen to our shouts to “Stop!”—or the shake that removes from under our feet any confidence or pride we carry, and leaves us numb with hardly enough breath to even utter the paralyzing word “EARTHQUAKE!”. And man is helpless in the face of it all! |
