"Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ" (I Corinthians 11:1)

WHAT IS THE LOST MEANING OF SEX?
"Sex"! A three-letter word. Ask ten different people to give the word a definition and you might get ten different answers. But those answers would probably equal "two bodies joined in sexual intercourse."
Well, one day as a young man, I decided to ask the Creator of sex His definition. After all, God got it all started in a garden setting with a handsome guy and a gorgeous gal. God Himself was the "minister" and Adam and Eve the first couple joined together on planet earth. Life was never the same for Adam. No more need to say good night to an elephant or hug a giraffe. He could hug Eve and hold nothing back of his exploding passions. The same for Eve. Wow!
Now I began to "get it." God's definition of sex was, and is, two souls-two spirits-filled with God's fiery love for each other, pledged to each other in marriage, and given two bodies to express that love in passionate rapture. Beautiful! Simply beautiful!
So I thought, "Ok Lord, from now on I get my ideas on sex from the Scripture". And the lessons on the Creator's blessings on sex, versus the devil's twisting something beautiful into the cheap and ugly, rolled in like waves of the sea.
The book of Proverbs. Wow! The adulterer who was a fool and paid with his life! The fornicating single person whose flesh was consumed by disease! The prostitute! Her client! What a horrific price they paid for a few moments of pleasure or business.
And the New Testament! So many lessons! "The body is not for fornication, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body". (1 Corinthians 6:13) So my body's first purpose is to be a house for the Holy Spirit. Cool, Lord!
"Flee sexual immorality..." (1 Corinthians 6:18) and keep my physical temple pure for God's Spirit to use and bless. (6:19, 20) Temptations came but so did the face of Jesus as He taught me-like He will teach you-to focus on Him and learn to discipline myself to say "Yes!" to Christ and "No!" to Satan.
And then came His purpose for my life. Marriage! My Norma! What a verse in Hebrews 13:4, "Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled." Incredible! God viewing a man and woman committed in marriage enjoying intimacy together, and the invisible Lord exclaiming "Beautiful! Simply beautiful!"
And finally, the "great mystery" (Ephesians 5:31-33) of how the closest thing we can find to our relationship to Jesus -"he that is joined to the Lord is one spirit" 1 Corinthians 6:17-is the union between a man and a woman in a faithful marriage. Those who love Jesus, as I do, will tell you it's true: that sex saved for marriage is a little bit of heaven on earth. Two souls, two spirits-enabled by God to express with their physical bodies what they so passionately feel for each other in their spirits.
Since sex is God's creation, only when it is centered in His will through marriage will its power and passion ever be experienced. Never be satisfied with less!
