Do you want God to become more real to you? Do you want to get to know Him better? Do you want to get to know how to discern His will from your own—or the devil’s subtle, sneaky will? Then start to memorize His Word. His Word is His will for you. God’s Word is also His clearest voice to you. The Holy Spirit will never contradict the Word of God. In fact, He uses the Word to guide us into all truth. First things first. Memorizing the 39 books of the Old Testament. Next lesson, we’ll memorize the books of the New Testament. Then I will give you around 50 basic memory verses that every believer should memorize in the first year of being a Christian. So don’t be a baby Christian. It’s time to grow up. Here is your first memory assignment—the names of the Old Testament books. Review them every day until they become part of you—like your name, address and Social Security number. Don’t say you can’t. Philippians 4:13 says you can!

Now God’s description of how He will destroy the old earth and create a
new one makes perfect sense. The splitting of the atom turned many skeptics into believers.
After all, look what man himself is capable of doing with the atom and hydrogen bombs. Now
the fear is that nuclear weapons are being placed in the hands of madmen who wish to annihilate
their enemies. God has blessed man with incredible genius. We stand in awe as we watch men and women in a room full of computers and high-tech instruments guiding and landing spacecraft on distant planets. At that moment, we appear invincible. But then a mammoth tornado comes—or a terrifying hurricane—or rains that flood whole regions and never listen to our shouts to “Stop!”—or the shake that removes from under our feet any confidence or pride we carry, and leaves us numb with hardly enough breath to even utter the paralyzing word “EARTHQUAKE!”. And man is helpless in the face of it all! |
