Lesson 148 - BITS OF WISDOM FROM AN OLD WARRIOR (PART 2)
By Frank Eiklor and the Shalom Team
Memorizing Bible Basics—New Testament
Today’s church is filled with many Christian “chocolate soldiers.” Chocolate melts in the heat. Many Christians do the same when trials and persecution come their way.
Why does this happen? I believe it is because the Word of God does not abide in their hearts. During the first year of knowing Jesus as Savior—when “first love” is still fresh—I push disciples to have a daily devotion of Bible and prayer with the Lord. Added to this is memory work—memorizing Bible basics including the books of the Bible and around 50 important scripture verses they will need to defeat the devil and be faithful to Christ. This all happens in the first year.
That is what I am doing with you. Last lesson, you memorized the 39 books of the Old Testament. Now it’s time to memorize the 27 books of the New Testament. That makes 66 books in all. Review them daily until you know them like your name and address. Here they are.
Matthew Philippians 1 Peter
Mark Colossians 2 Peter
Luke 1 Thessalonians 1 John
John 2 Thessalonians 2 John
Acts 1 Timothy 3 John
Romans 2 Timothy Jude
1 Corinthians Titus Revelation
2 Corinthians Philemon
Galatians Hebrews
Ephesians James
Next lesson we go to work on memorizing basic Bible verses. Not to know them is really to remain a baby Christian. It’s time to grow up!
