Lesson 149 - BITS OF WISDOM FROM AN OLD WARRIOR (PART 3)

Memorizing Bible Basics—Verses
Twenty one Egyptian Christians answered the martyr call when they were beheaded by Islamic terrorists. They became part of Revelation 6:9-11: “ When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, how long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth? Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.” (NKJ)
Great suffering is coming to all true believers in the coming days. The best way to live victoriously today and prepare for what may come tomorrow is to be filled with God’s Word. So let’s go to work memorizing and retaining basic scripture verses that really should be memorized in the first year of being a Christian. Here are the first six verses from the New King James Version of the Bible. Before I finish, you will memorize around 50 very important Scriptures that will help keep you true to the Lord. Go to work. And remember, there are three simple rules to successful memorizing of God’s Word—1) Review; 2) Review; 3) Review.
1) Make reading God's word a daily discipline.
Matthew 4:4 "But He answered and said, 'It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"
2) God wants to use you to witness to others.
Matthew 4: 19 "Then He said to them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."
3) Be God's light of integrity so others can see Jesus in you.
Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify you Father in heaven."
4) Keep serving the Lord as your number one priority
Matthew 6:33 "But first seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
5) Prayer is like breathing. Learn to pray throughout the day.
Matthew 7:7-8 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, it
will be opened."
