Lesson 151 - BITS OF WISDOM FROM AN OLD WARRIOR (PART 5)
By Frank Eiklor and the Shalom Team

Memorizing Bible BasicsVerses Continued

Three voices are calling day and night for your attention and obedience. Two of those voices—the devil’s voice and the voice of self—will destroy you. The other voice—from the Holy Spirit—will guide you to truth, freedom from sin, and powerful living.

How do you know which voice is coming to you? You test it by the Word of God—the Scriptures. Satan hates God’s Word. So does our old self nature. That’s why you must have basic verses from the Bible in your memory so you can test your thoughts and walk in the Spirit.

The verses I’m giving you to memorize are so basic that new converts to Christ should know them in the first year of their Christian life. So whether you are a new believer, or have been a Christian for many years, I challenge you to hide those scriptures in your heart by memorizing and reviewing them until they are part of you. We begin where we left off in our last lesson.

9) Here is the secret to a day by day walk with Jesus Christ. There is no other way.

Luke 9:23 "Then He said to them all, 'If anyone desires to come after Me, let him

deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.'"

10) It is not enough to believe that Christ is alive and real. We must receive Him by

repenting of our sin and putting our trust in Him alone.

John 1:12 "But as many received Him, to them He gave the right to become child-

ren of God, to those who believe in His name."

11) This is the "golden verse" in the Bible. Use it when you witness to others by putting

their name where it says "whoever."

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that

whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

12) Loving the Lord and His Word of truth delivers us from Satan's tyranny and sets

      free in Christ.

John 8:32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

13) God wants to give you His peace moment by moment, day by day, no matter your

      circumstances.

John 14:27 "Peace I leave you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I

give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

14) You are someone very specialchosen by Jesus Himself. He now wants to make you

His witness to others so that your life will be fruitful.

John 15:16 "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should

go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in

My name He may give you."

Go to work memorizing these basic scriptures. I’ll give you more in our next lesson.

Do you have Jesus in your home? Is the Bible an honored friend and prayer a daily privilege? Does love fill each room? If so, consider yourself wealthy. Because you are!
This lesson is not for dishonest Christians. It’s also not for Christians who, though honest enough to admit they are living in sin, still rebel against asking God for grace and new desires pleasing to Him. This teaching is for the Christian who is serious with God and who desires practical help in how to know God’s will in small and great decisions that will bring either happiness or heartache—victory or defeat—peace or turmoil—God’s will or Satan’s trap.
Paul was in prison, yet he was free. He knew that the sovereign Lord Jesus was in charge of his life. Paul could witness to the crowds in public or to a jailor in a prison cell. Jesus Christ had died for Paul—and no price was too great to pay to be a follower of the risen Lord.
