Memorizing Bible BasicsVerses Continued

Picture this scene. One day you are called upon to suffer for Christ. You are put in prison—with no Bible allowed. It can’t happen? It has happened to your brothers and sisters all around the world in countries of spiritual darkness. And it can happen to you and me!

What then? If you have memorized basic Bible verses, they can take the Bible from you but they can’t take God’s Word out of your heart and mind.

Let’s go back to work. We are memorizing around 60 scriptures that new Christians used to memorize in the first year of knowing the Lord Jesus. So far, I gave you 14 verses from the four gospels. We continue in Acts and Romans.

15) Ask God daily to empty you of self and fill you with His Holy Spirit so that you can witness to those around you.

Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me

in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth

16) Ask the Lord to save your loved ones. Then live a life of integrity and God will give you opportunities to tell each

one how much you love Christ—and how much He loves them!
Acts 16:31 “So they said, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

17) In a world filled with sin and fear, never let Satan tempt you to be ashamed of Jesus Christ and the gospel. Like Paul,

God will make you a bold witness for Him.
Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who

believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”

18) Share this verse when you show others why each of us needs to repent of our sins.

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

19) This is another verse to use when leading a loved one or friend to Jesus.

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal

life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

20) Life will be filled with trials, tests and temptations. This memorized verse will always

help carry you through the most difficult of times.

Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love

God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

21) You and the Lord make a majorityno matter what you must face in this present

      evil world.

Romans 8:31 "What then sall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be

      against us?"

I gave lots of work. Let’s do it!

Jesus said many would come in His name and deceive the hearts of the simple, sinful and proud. Eastern mysticism and meditation is a big thing in the gullible West. And one day a “world leader” will appear on the scene with the persuasion of a god and the heart of a devil. Jesus warns His children to know the Scriptures, live in obedience to the Father’s will, and stay alert to the signs of the times.
They laugh no more. Now God’s description of how He will destroy the old earth and create a new one makes perfect sense. The splitting of the atom turned many skeptics into believers. After all, look what man himself is capable of doing with the atom and hydrogen bombs. Now the fear is that nuclear weapons are being placed in the hands of madmen who wish to annihilate their enemies.
God has blessed man with incredible genius. We stand in awe as we watch men and women in a room full of computers and high-tech instruments guiding and landing spacecraft on distant planets. At that moment, we appear invincible. But then a mammoth tornado comes—or a terrifying hurricane—or rains that flood whole regions and never listen to our shouts to “Stop!”—or the shake that removes from under our feet any confidence or pride we carry, and leaves us numb with hardly enough breath to even utter the paralyzing word “EARTHQUAKE!”. And man is helpless in the face of it all!
