Lesson 157 - BITS OF WISDOM FROM AN OLD WARRIOR (PART 11)

Memorizing Important Scripturescontinued

What—how—does God want me to think? Especially when I face trials, temptations and tests! He has given you and me His own heart and mind recorded in His love letter—the Bible. And since there is nothing more powerful than the Word of God, when we take time to memorize scripture verses, the Holy Spirit brings them to our remembrance when we need strength, wisdom and direction.

I am sharing with you around 70 key Bible verses that a mature Christian should have in his/her memory. Parts 11 and 12 will complete this important assignment—with our final lesson memorizing a few special verses from the Old Testament. Be faithful to hide all these scriptures in your heart and review them faithfully. You will never regret it!

49) Christ came as the Light of the world. We are to talk in the light of His word as we fellowship with each

other and live in His constant cleansing of sin.

1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the

blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin."

50) What a wonderful promise we have when we commit sin.

1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleans us from all unrighteousness."

51) The Lord tells us how to recognize Satan's three ways to attack Christians.

1 John 2:16 “For all that is in the worldthe lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life

is not of the Father but is of the world."

52) Always remember that love is more than talk. It is action!

1 John 3:18 "My little children, let us not love in word or tongue, but in deed and in truth."

53) No forces in hell or on earth are more powerful than Christ who is in you!

1 John 4:4 "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in your is greater than

he who is in the world."

54) When you face fears, run to your mighty Savior and ask Him to fill you with His perfect love.

1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who

fears has not been made perfect in love."

55) Here is a great verse to use to lead someone to Christ.

Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in

to him and dine with him, and he with Me."

Jesus said many would come in His name and deceive the hearts of the simple, sinful and proud. Eastern mysticism and meditation is a big thing in the gullible West. And one day a “world leader” will appear on the scene with the persuasion of a god and the heart of a devil. Jesus warns His children to know the Scriptures, live in obedience to the Father’s will, and stay alert to the signs of the times.
They laugh no more. Now God’s description of how He will destroy the old earth and create a new one makes perfect sense. The splitting of the atom turned many skeptics into believers. After all, look what man himself is capable of doing with the atom and hydrogen bombs. Now the fear is that nuclear weapons are being placed in the hands of madmen who wish to annihilate their enemies.
God has blessed man with incredible genius. We stand in awe as we watch men and women in a room full of computers and high-tech instruments guiding and landing spacecraft on distant planets. At that moment, we appear invincible. But then a mammoth tornado comes—or a terrifying hurricane—or rains that flood whole regions and never listen to our shouts to “Stop!”—or the shake that removes from under our feet any confidence or pride we carry, and leaves us numb with hardly enough breath to even utter the paralyzing word “EARTHQUAKE!”. And man is helpless in the face of it all!
