Lesson 158 - BITS OF WISDOM FROM AN OLD WARRIOR (PART 12)

Memorizing Important Scripturescontinued

Here it is! Your final scripture memory assignment. I have now given you 12 lessons containing around 70 basic verses from the Bible that every mature Christian should memorize and review. You will need these verses when you face temptations, tests and trials. Plus you may need them in future days when true followers of Jesus will face persecution. (That is already happening in much of the world.) You have also been challenged to memorize the names of the 66 books of the Bible—39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament.

These final scripture verses are from the Old Testament. Go to work and hide them in your mind and heart. You can find all the previous lessons here on our website.

Also, we are on internet television on around the world. Just click on HisChannel.com then go to Video On Demand and locate our 30 minute power-packed program called “More Than Talk”. Please tell your friends to watch.

56) How it all begannot through some accident of evolution but by the awesome power of God.

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

57) This is especially a great memory verse for young people who hope for a successful and prosperous life.

Joshua 1:8 "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night,

that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and

then you will have good success."

58) This is the golden Pslamonly 6 verses and worth memorizing. Jesus will be your Shepherd in life and your companion in death.

Pslam 23 “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside the still

waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley

of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Your prepare a table before

me in the presence of my enenies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the

days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever."

59) Make the Lord Jesus your first delight and watch what He does with the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart."

60) Learn to treasure time of aloneness in daily Bible reading and prayer. Then you will see how real God can be to you.

Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"

61) Here is how every one of your days can count for time and eternity.

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways

acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

CONCLUSION

Every scripture you hide in your memory bank strengthens the foundation of your spiritual life. Like the Lord Jesus, you will be strong and ready to resist all of the devil’s attacks with “IT IS WRITTEN” as you use God’s Word and learn to walk in His authority. That is what makes a winner, not a loser!

Jesus said many would come in His name and deceive the hearts of the simple, sinful and proud. Eastern mysticism and meditation is a big thing in the gullible West. And one day a “world leader” will appear on the scene with the persuasion of a god and the heart of a devil. Jesus warns His children to know the Scriptures, live in obedience to the Father’s will, and stay alert to the signs of the times.
They laugh no more. Now God’s description of how He will destroy the old earth and create a new one makes perfect sense. The splitting of the atom turned many skeptics into believers. After all, look what man himself is capable of doing with the atom and hydrogen bombs. Now the fear is that nuclear weapons are being placed in the hands of madmen who wish to annihilate their enemies.
God has blessed man with incredible genius. We stand in awe as we watch men and women in a room full of computers and high-tech instruments guiding and landing spacecraft on distant planets. At that moment, we appear invincible. But then a mammoth tornado comes—or a terrifying hurricane—or rains that flood whole regions and never listen to our shouts to “Stop!”—or the shake that removes from under our feet any confidence or pride we carry, and leaves us numb with hardly enough breath to even utter the paralyzing word “EARTHQUAKE!”. And man is helpless in the face of it all!
