WHY YOU CAN TRUST THE BIBLE

We who have experienced the new life God gives through a relationship with His Son Jesus Christ know that we can trust His promises to the end of life. As Scripture says, it is “impossible for God to lie”. (Hebrews 6:18)

But what a about those who have doubts about whether or not Jesus really is the Savior of the world and the only hope for sins forgiven and eternal life? Our loving God gives overwhelming proof of this fact through hundreds of prophecies concerning Christ’s coming—some of them thousands of years before His birth. God gave these prophecies so that any honest heart would know that Christ alone would be—could be— the promised Messiah and Savior of Israel and the world.

I am giving you only 33 of these incredible prophecies. Our first 3 parts covered 25 prophecies. We will now complete the lesson with eight more amazing things God said would happen long before each event took place.

26. SOLDIERS AT THE PLACE OF CRUCIFIXION WOULD GAMBLE FOR HIS COAT

The Prophecy—Psalms 22:17-18

“I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me. They divide My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots.”

This Amazing Detail Was Fulfilled—Mattew 27:35

“Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: They divided My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots.”

27. GOD WOULD NOT ALLOW ONE OF OUR SAVIOR'S BONES TO BE BROKEN

 The Prophecy—Psalms 34:20

“He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken.”

It Happened As Foretold—John 19:32-33, 36

“Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him. But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.… For these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, “Not one of His bones shall be broken.”

28. OUR LORD'S SIDE WOULD BE PIERCED BY THE EXECUTIONERS

 The Prophecy—Zechariah 12:10

“And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for His only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.”

Medical Science Says Blood and Water Indicate Jesus Died Of A Broken Heart (For Me and You)—John 19:34

“But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.”

29. CHRIST WOULD GIVE AN AGNOIZED CRY AS HE TOOK ON HIMSELF THE SIN OF THE WORLD

 The Prophecy—Psalms 22:1

“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

At That Moment, The Father Could Not Look At Sin—Matthew 27:46

“And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is, My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

30. DARKNESS WOULD COVER THE LAND AS HE DIED

 The Prophecy—Amos 8:9

“And it shall come to pass in that day,” says the Lord God, “That I will make the sun go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in broad daylight.”

The Miracle Took Place—Matthew 27:45

“Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land.”

31. JESUS WOULD BE BURIED WITH THE RICH

 The Prophecy—Isaiah 53:9

“And they made His grave with the wicked—But with the rich at His death, because He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth.”

Another Exact Prophecy Fulfilled—Matthew 27:57-60    

“Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him. When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed.”

32. CHRIST WOULD BE RESURRECTED FROM THE DEAD

The Prophecy—Psalms 16:10

“For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.”

Hallelujah—His Resurrection Is A Fact!—Mark 16:6

“But he said to them, do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, Who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.”

33. THE RESURRECTED LORD WOULD ASCEND TO GOD'S RIGHT HAND

 The Prophecy—Psalms 68:18

“You have ascended on high, You have led captivity captive; You have received gifts among men, Even from the rebellious, that the Lord God might dwell there.”

And He Is Coming Again!—Mark 16:19

“So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.”

"Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ" (I Corinthians 11:1)
