Lesson 218 - GOD'S WILL COMES WITH GOD'S STRENGTH (God's Plans and Promises for You from the Book of Isaiah)
By Frank Eiklor and the Shalom Team

“For the Lord God will help Me; therefore I will not be disgraced; therefore I have set My face like a flint, and I know that I will not be ashamed.” Isaiah 50:7

This messianic scripture clearly speaks of Jesus who set His face like a flint to go to Jerusalem, to Calvary and to a terrible death in order to give you and me life. Now He expects us to also live out the truth of this verse. We are to wait upon God long enough to learn His will and then walk with God in living out His will for our lives, cost what it may.

There will be times the Lord will call you to a difficult task. Whatever it is, never turn back from what you know to be His will. After 20 years with a missionary organization, God called Norma and me to a new pathway. That was in late 1978, when we left the cozy harbor of family and friends for the open seas of new challenges, dangers, labors and blessing.

Five of us went from West Coast to East Coast to begin a new outreach that would eventually become world—wide in impact. But pain was to be our companion. Only a few months after arrival, our three teammates were in a tragic car wreck. Two were killed with the other in critical condition. Norma and I were left alone facing what friends back home might have looked at as an impossible task.

But the Lord became so real we could almost touch Him—and He said "No surrender! Carry on!" We knew we had His help, so we set our faces like a flint to carry out His will. The results speak for themselves.

You, too, will face tough times in following the Lord's orders. Set this verse where it's handy and you'll set your face like a flint!

My prayer: "I know that following You, my lovely Lord, will not be through flowery beds of ease but often through stormy seas. Grant me grace to never turn back from doing Your will, no matter the cost."

"Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ" (I Corinthians 11:1)

Jesus said many would come in His name and deceive the hearts of the simple, sinful and proud. Eastern mysticism and meditation is a big thing in the gullible West. And one day a “world leader” will appear on the scene with the persuasion of a god and the heart of a devil. Jesus warns His children to know the Scriptures, live in obedience to the Father’s will, and stay alert to the signs of the times.
They laugh no more. Now God’s description of how He will destroy the old earth and create a new one makes perfect sense. The splitting of the atom turned many skeptics into believers. After all, look what man himself is capable of doing with the atom and hydrogen bombs. Now the fear is that nuclear weapons are being placed in the hands of madmen who wish to annihilate their enemies.
God has blessed man with incredible genius. We stand in awe as we watch men and women in a room full of computers and high-tech instruments guiding and landing spacecraft on distant planets. At that moment, we appear invincible. But then a mammoth tornado comes—or a terrifying hurricane—or rains that flood whole regions and never listen to our shouts to “Stop!”—or the shake that removes from under our feet any confidence or pride we carry, and leaves us numb with hardly enough breath to even utter the paralyzing word “EARTHQUAKE!”. And man is helpless in the face of it all!
