Lesson 227 - LIFE'S GREATEST WONDER (God's Plans and Promises for You from the Book of Isaiah)
By Frank Eiklor and the Shalom Team

“For all those things My hand has made, and all those things exist, says the Lord: but on this one will I look: on him who is poor and of contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.” Isaiah 66:2

After 29 lessons, today’s scripture bring to an end the riches in the Book of Isaiah. And it is a perfect verse that sums up God’s cry through the prophet. He reminds us that “Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool” (v. 1 Amplified Bible) and that the very beating of our hearts depends on Him as He humbles us with “What kind of house would you build for me?”

We are to stand awestruck at the Creator of the universe forming everything from nothing but His Word (and remember that the word came from the Word Himself, Jesus the Messiah)! Trillions of not merely stars, but entire galaxies (unnumbered by limited man)! Our galaxy with sun, moon and planets performing flawlessly! Our own planet of oceans and land—animals, birds, plants and wonders that boggle the mind, including the human design itself!

But the greatest wonder of all? This glorious God says to you and me, “I choose—I greatly desire—to dwell with you in fellowship and love.” And then He proves it by distinguishing Himself in flesh, dying on the cross for our sin and destroying death by His resurrection!

What other response could I give than to be humble in gratitude, broken in repentance, and trembling in reverence over the Word He has left me?! Friend, NEVER take the Bible for granted! Ask God for a trembling heart that sees what He commands in Scripture and then rushes to obey. It is the one who is obedient to God’s Word who truly loves Him. All else is mere pretense!

My prayer: “Oh my Father, when I survey the wondrous Cross on which the Prince of Glory died, my richest gain I count but loss and pour contempt on all my pride.”

"Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ" (I Corinthians 11:1)
