"Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ" I Corinthians 11:1
The St. Paul School, with Frank Eiklor, Eileen Young and Cecilia Contreras)
Man has changed his world in a remarkable way, but has not been able to alter himself. Since this problem is basically a spiritual one, and since man is naturally bent toward evil (as history attests), the sole way that man can be changed is by God... All the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man on this earth as much as that one solitary life... Jesus Christ is the outstanding personality of all time…No other teacher...is still a teacher whose teaching is such a guidepost for the world we live in. Other teachers may have something basic ...but every act and word of Jesus has value for all of us... Everything in Christ astonishes me. His spirit overawes me, and His will confounds me. Between Him and whoever else in the world, there is no possible term of comparison. He is truly a being by Himself. His ideas and sentiments, the truth which He announces, His manner of convincing are not explained either by human organization or by the nature of things… All eyes were on the bold man who appeared out of the Judean desert. John had the stare of an eagle and a voice like thunder. And when he ordered his hearers to repent, strong men may have shivered and the smart ones held their tongues. Most figured they were looking at Him—the promised Messiah who would fulfill some 2000 years of biblical prophecy. Now he was here—or was he? For you who love God, there is the promise, "I make all things new." For you the new day dawns. For Satan, sin, and death, it is their night. A night that will never end. Death can't touch your souls or spirits, but it wants your bodies to rot and disappear. But your great Creator won't let death have even that. He plans for those who love Him to have it all made new in the likeness of Jesus—body, soul and spirit. To most of us, death is ugly. Fearful. Final. You see the physical evidence after it strikes. There's nothing beautiful about a corpse. That's why the adversary tries to make us concentrate on the word 'body,' not 'spirit.' That way he can keep your mind on only the physical evidence—and as long as Satan can keep death a mystery, he can keep you tormented through fear of your future appointment. Death and Satan want you to fear them who can kill your body but can't touch your soul. They want death to stay a mystery that torments you with fear, rather than have you experience that other mystery... Satan, sin and death hope you will choose them because they have come to steal, kill and destroy. They know that if you choose God and His holy Son, Jesus, you will be forever separated from them and the lake of fire. And since misery loves company... |
