September 2009
My precious friend,
This letter will not be about "me" or "us" or "Shalom". It will be about "you"-because that is who I have on my heart.
It can be so easy for ministries to tell of their (our) needs and seek your giving. But what about you? What if you wrote a letter to Shalom telling of your needs? Where you need prayer. Where you hurt. Where you've grown weak or discouraged or doubtful. Would we care? Would I care? My heart answers, "Yes, we would and do care. Yes, I care!"
So this letter is not merely to seek your commitment to Shalom. It is to assure you of our commitment to you. Yes, we are in transition to follow a greater vision than perhaps we have ever known. Yes, thousands of lives are being reached each month with the message and teaching of Jesus Christ. Yes, bridges of God's love are being built all over the world because of the Spirit of the Lord using this ministry.
But nothing much would be done-or be of eternal value-without "you" and all of the "you's" who have cared, prayed and sacrificed. Some of "you" have stood with Norma and me for all of the 49 years of our marriage. Forty nine years!! Others of "you" have only known of Shalom for a brief time. Yet you care. And pray. And give.
We need you to pray and give again this month to keep us in the battle.
But we are also praying for you. When I sign my "thank you" letters and add those personal notes, it's because we care. About "you"! Take time this month to tell us your biggest need, heartache or prayer request. We'll seek the Lord with you. Together. Because we love "you".
In this ministry-you count,
not just your money,
Frank Eiklor
